Detox Anyone?????????

Our bodies naturally detoxify everyday. But this day in age with pollution everywhere the body has a hard time keeping up. Our diet and environment has changed so much from century to century that it has changed our internal ecosystem. We digest so much more animal protein, saturated and trans fats, caffeine, and alcohol than did our ancestors and our bodies are paying for it.

Our bodies are so overloaded with so much extra work now of getting rid of waste that's not even suppose to be in our bodies in the first place that it isn't able to rid the body of all it's toxic waste anymore. Therefore we have some waste that remains in our bloodstream and tissues.

Dextoxing helps to assist the body with getting rid of this toxic waste. It is especially important for immune-compromised diseases like cancer, arthritis, diabetes and chronic fatigue. However, even if your diet is good, a detox every now and then can revitalize your system and rid your body of harmful bacteria, viruses and parasites.

Some source of toxin
  • water
  • air
  • soil
  • stress
  • synthetic materials
  • the environment
  • our diet
  • the food we eat
A great way to get rid of these toxins is to eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water, and take a detox cleanser.

There are many cleansers on the market that can help with detoxifying the body. One that I have tried and really like it The Essence of Vitality. It is a an all natural herbal tonic that dates back to the Ghana Empire.
It helps to strengthen the immune system, increase energy level, removes toxins from the digestive system, and revitalize your cells.

I felt a difference in my body just days after taking the tonic. I wasn't as hungry as I use to be and I have more energy (to keep up with my little one :).

To find our more on The Essence of Vitality check out the link http://essenceofvitality.chefahki.com/  for more information and ingredients.

This is a great way to begin the New Year......Detox and get rid of all the unhealthy toxins in your body!!!!!!!!

Cold/Flu Season....How to be prepared

Viruses tend to live longer in colder weather/temperature hence why a lot of people get sick during the winter season.

Building up your immune system is a great way to help your body get ready for the flu season. Drinking lots of water and eating your fruits and vegetables are great ways to boost your immune system.

If you do feel a little sniffle coming along try take some saline nasal spray in each nostril to help clear up any mucus and bacteria that might be forming. Make sure your spray has purified water and sodium chloride in it.

If you feel a soar throat coming along avoid taking the lozenges with menthol in them because too much menthol can break down the good mucus (in the throat) and damage the throat. Take blackcurrent lozenges they contain Gamma Linolenic Acid which decreases inflammation and soothes the throat.

Great Immune Boosters:

Sunlight-Take a 20-30 minute walk everyday (Vitamin D)

Eat lots of fruits from the citrus family-oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, etc.

Buckwheat Honey-take 1-2 teaspoons a day. It's rich in antioxidants

Supplements:
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) 250mg
Astragalus - 1 drop a day
Vitamin D3 - 2,000 IU per day (during the winter season where the sun does not shine as much) 1,000 IU per day during the other seasons.

Tumeric- great spice that helps fight the cold. 1-3 tsp per day. Can be used in stews, stir fry, and marinades.

Medicinal Mushrooms: End each day with some tea. Reishi or Shitake Mushroom Tea. 2 cups per day. These mushrooms have ingredients that protect the immune system.

Ginseng- helps give you energy during the day and improve concentration. 100 mg capsule/Ginseng tea

An APPLE a day keeps the doctor away....but what about the SEEDS?!?!?

Fruit seeds are harmless when eaten in moderate quantities. By eating the seeds you may achieve some protection from cancer. Apple seeds are known for containing cyanogen which creates cyanide. Cyanide can be lethal in large quantities but small tiny amounts are normal to normal cells.

Seeds are an excellent source of fiber. Fruit seeds are high in vitamins and many have cancer fighting properties. The seeds in dark red and purple grapes contain resveratrol, an antioxidant.

The cell's of our body has the enzyme rhodanese that will detoxify cyanides that form naturally in a cell. A tiny level of the enzyme rhodanese is normal in our bodies. It seems that cancer cells lack this enzyme, so if you eat a small quantity of bitter almonds or apple seeds, or apricot seeds or other fruit seeds with cyanogens, the cancer cells may be affected when they come in contact with this enzyme, rhodanese. Your normal cells are are fine because they are protected by the enzyme rhodanese.
I would not trust in apple seeds or the seeds from any fruit alone to cure me from cancer, but I do believe that there are many things that protect our bodies in the early stages of many diseases. So I'm going to continue to eat my apple seeds. I would love to find a bitter almond tree to add to my orchard.  I keep a container of almonds by me to snack on all day.  They are not the bitter almonds, but it's a much better snack than chips or junk food. - [Dr. Lee Miller Natural Health and Science Author]
How should you eat the seeds?
Well you can eat them while enjoying your favorite fruit. You can save them and sprinkle them on your favorite salad. Fruit seeds can also be baked into breads and pastries.

Feeling a bit tired lately....

Ever wonder why you keep getting stomach aches? Why are you so sluggish lately? Why are you forgetting things? Why do you have no mental and physical strength?

Maybe you should check your diet. Maybe it's time to do inventory on the things you allow to enter your body. Our mind is affected by what we eat and drink. Our bodies need good nutrients in order to function. Your eating habits could be affecting the way you feel and think.

Try replacing one unhealthy food (meats, starch, sweets, etc.) with a healthy one (fruits, nuts, vegetables, whole grain, etc.) and see if you feel any difference in the way your body functions. If you like how your body is feeling try replacing two, then three. Try drinking more water and less sugar drinks and coffee. Trust me your body will thank you :)

Self-Control.....

One of strongest temptations that human beings have to meet is upon the point of appetite. Don't let your appetite control you. You control your appetite.

Stay away from those foods and restaurants that may temp you to make unhealthy choices. Create cravings for healthier foods by visiting new restaurants that have a healthier menu option.

Create a shopping list when going to the store to avoid picking up items you don't need. Stay out of the isles in the food store that will temp you to pick up something that may not be the best choice for you.

Controling our appetite is important, but it can also be hard at first. Your mind is programed to choose the unhealthy items and now you must reprogram it to choose that which is healthy. Your taste buds have also been programed to like these items and they too must be reprogramed. They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. So try making healthier choices for 21 days and see how much easier it will be when it's time to choose the healthier choice. Consider having a check in buddy that will help you whenyour having those cravings.

It will be all worth it in the end. And trust me your body will thank you for it :)

Habits.....

Habits once formed are hard to overcome. Make smart choices. Healthy habits. One step at a time :)

Monday, November 26, 2012

Stimulants......

Spice food, cakes, pastries, rich gravies, highly seasoned food irritate the stomach causing cravings for stronger stimulants. Try eliminating or cutting down on one or more of the above for 10 days and then try it for 20 days. Your body will thank you for it :)

Strengthen your stomach.....

Food either weakens or strengthens the organs of the stomach. Why not strengthen it :)

Take care of your temple.......

The greatest cause of human suffering is ignorance on the subject of how to treat our own bodies.

Life is what we make it, and we shall find what we look for.....

Do not allow the perplexities and worried of everyday life to fret your mind and cloud your brow. If you do, you will always have something to vex and annoy. Life is what we make it, and we shall find what we look for. If we look for sadness and trouble, if we are in a frame of mind to magnify little difficulties, we shall find plenty of them to engross our thoughts and our conversation. But if we look on the bright side of things, we shall find enough to make us cheerful and happy. If we give smiles, they will be returned to us; if we speak pleasant cheerful words, they will be spoken to us again.

When Christians appear as gloomy and depressed as though they thought themselves friendless, they give a wrong impression of religion.

Earnest Christians seek to imitate Jesus, for to be Christians is to be Christlike.

We need more Christ and less worldliness, more Christ and less selfishness.

Happiness

Happy is the man who finds wisdom and understanding for the gain from it is better than gain from silver and profit better than gold. Proverbs 3:13,14

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. Proverbs 15:30

Ever wondered what's in a Cigarette?

Why should we be ungrateful and distrustful?

Many look back on the Israelites, and marvel at their unbelief and murmuring, feeling that they themselves would not have been so ungrateful; but when their faith is tested, even by little trials, they manifest no more faith or patience than did ancient Israel. Though their present needs are supplied, many are unwilling to trust God for the future, and they
are in constant anxiety lest poverty shall come upon them, and their children shall be left to suffer. Some are always anticipating evil or magnifying the difficulties that really exist, so that their eyes are blinded to the many blessings which demand their gratitude. The obstacles they encounter, instead of leading them to seek help from God, the only Source of strength, separate them from Him, because they awaken unrest and repining. Why should we be ungrateful and distrustful? Jesus is our friend: all of heaven is interested in our welfare; and our anxiety and fear grieve the Holy Spirit of God....It is not the will of God that His people should be weighed down with care. But our Lord does not tell us that there are no dangers in our path. He does not propose to take His people out of the world of sin and evil, but He points us to a never-failing refuge. He invites the weary and care-laden, "Come unto Me, all that labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Matt.11:28,29 In view of all that God has wrought for us, our faith should be strong, active, and enduring. Instead of murmuring and complaining, the language of our hearts should be, "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits." Psalm 103:1,2

Quit.........

1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect
their position and keep it moving!

2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going

to keep them! And if you keep telling them, then quit getting mad when

they tell your secrets!

3. Quit trying to pull people on your journey who don't want to travel
with you. Either they believe in you and value you...or they don't!

4. Quit complaining about things you can't and won't change!

5. Quit gossiping about other people! Minding our own business should

be a full time job!

going to matter three weeks from now! Talk solutions...and then

implement them!

have self control, then quit going to the stores! Quit charging

things, especially when you don't NEED them!

9. Quit staying in unhealthy relationships! It is not okay for people

to verbally or physically abuse you! So quit lying to yourself! It is

not okay to stay in the marriage for the children! Ask them and they

will tell you that they really would prefer to see you happy and that

the misery you and your spouse/partner are living with is affecting

them!

10. Quit letting family members rope you into the drama! -Start

telling them you don't want to hear it! Quit spreading the drama! Quit

calling other relatives and telling them about your cousin or aunt! Go

back to #5 minding your own business should be enough to keep you

busy!

11. Quit trying to change people! IT DOESN'T WORK! Quit cussing people

out when you know that they are just being the miserable and jealous

people that they are!

12. Quit the job you hate! Start pursuing your passion. Find the job

that fuels your passion BEFORE you quit!

13.. Quit volunteering for things that you aren't getting any personal

fulfillment from anymore! Quit volunteering for things and then

failing to follow through with your commitment!

14. Quit listening to the naysayers! Quit watching the depressing news

if you are going to live in the doom and gloom of it all!

15. Quit making excuses about why you are where you are or why you

can't do what you want to do!

16. Quit waiting on others to give you the answers...and start finding

the answers for yourself! If what you are doing isn't working for

you...then quit it!

17. Quit settling and start making your dreams a reality!- Quit being

afraid and START LIVING YOUR LIFE! CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT! If you

want something different than what you have had in the past...you must

QUIT IT ...... and START DOING something to create the experience you

want!

Motivation.....

You cannot reach the full measure of the stature of Christ in a day, and you would sink in despair could you behold all the difficulties that must be met and overcome. You have Satan to contend with, and he will seek by every possible device to attract your mind from Christ.

But we must meet all obstacles placed in our way, and overcome them one at a time. If we overcome the first difficulty, we shall be stronger to meet the next, and at every effort will become better able to make advancement. By looking to Jesus we may be overcomers. It is by fastening our eyes on the difficulties and shrinking from earnest battle for the right, that we become weak and faithless. By taking one step after another, the highest ascent may be climbed, and the summit of the mount may be reached at last.

Do not become overwhelmed with the great amount of work you must do in your lifetime, for you are not required to do it all at once. Let every power of your being go to each day's work, improve each precious opportunity, appreciate the helps that God gives you, and make advancement up the ladder of progress step by step. Remember that you are to live but one day at a time, that God has given you one day, and heavenly records will show how you have valued its privileges and opportunities. May you so improve every day given you of God, that at last you may hear the Master say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Passage taken from Messages To Young People pg.25-26

Be Careful.....

Be careful little ears what you hear

Be careful little eyes what you see

Be careful little mouth what you say

Be careful little feet where you go

Be careful little hands what you do

Be careful little mind what you think

For our Father up above

Looks down with tender love

So, Be careful.........what you do.

Our daily goal should be to please God and show Him how much we love Him by obeying Him. Christ is holding us all accountable for the choices we make, whether it be for good or bad. - 2 Corinthians 5:9,10

Move Forward in Faith.....

A young woman took her fiance home to meet her parents. After dinner, her mother asked her father to find out about the young man. The father then invited the fiance to his study for a talk.
“So, what are your plans?” the father asked the young man.
“I am a biblical scholar,” he replied.
“A biblical scholar, Hmmmm,” the father said. “Admirable, but what will you do to provide a nice house for my daughter to live in?”
“I will study,” the young man replied “and God will provide for us.”
“And how will you buy her a beautiful engagement ring, such as she deserves?” asked the father.
“I will concentrate on my studies,” the young man replied. “God will provide for us.”
“And children?” asked the father. “How will you support children?”
“Don’t worry Sir. God will provide,” replied the fiance.
The conversation proceeded like this, and each time the father questioned, the young idealist insisted that God would provide. Later, the mother asked, “How did it go honey?” The father answered, “He has no job and no plans, and he thinks I’m God.”
One thing is true about the young man in this story: he certainly had faith! We all need to do our best, work hard and live wisely, but we must also have faith in God, trusting him to see us through difficulties, show us how to live, provide for us, and guide us in the affairs of our daily lives.

Benefits of Ginger

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by to check out MBH&S!!!!!!!!! I hope you find this website useful in helping you make wiser choices that will lead to a better life for you, your family, and your friends.

God's original plan for mankind was for us to live healthy, happy, balanced lives. Sin destroyed that plan and now people are getting sick and dying from diseases (physical & mental) everyday. A lot of which can be avoided if we take care of our mind, body, health, and soul.

"We are what we eat" is not just a quote but our reality. I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy that I love so much. I want to be alive and healthy so I can play with him, have fun with him, and share precious memories with him. Children watch their parents and do what they see them doing. I want to I NEED to live a better life and be a positive influence to my family.

It is so important that we live healthy lives and keep our mind, body, and soul free from clutter. These are the vessels which God uses to speak to us his children. Our relationship with Him should be #1 and anything that distracts or hinders the relationship should be eliminated [Exodus 20:3].

A lot of the things we allow to enter our mind (via television or radio), and body (the food I eat) are not pleasing to Him and I'm sure you can agree that something must be done about it. The things we watch, the food we eat, and the environment we choose to be in all impact our lives in some way or another. These factors can also affect our mood, behavior, and attitude. I have seen first hand how what I eat, watch, and the activities I engage in alters my attitude and I must admit it isn't a pretty one. I'm ready to do something about it because God expects and deserves better and so does my family.

So join us on this journey as we intentionally make wiser choices to live a better life by taking care of my Mind, Body, Health, and Soul!

God's Child
